Being serious soccer watchers.

Realise that three weeks is appalling, shame sized gap in events, but have taken notes and will get round to backdating at some stage. However each day that don’t blog just adds to backlog and have decided to report from yesterday. Sunday 22nd. Walk to Salamanca, breakfast at Jam Packed, cute wharfy/wine cellary/courtyardy type gaff. Had pancake stack in spirit of adventure and calories, as never order pancakes and wanted to be different. Later went with Richard to watch college soccer semi finals, with doughy time bomb sitting heavily in stomach. Won both matches, (3-2) (2-1) hurrah. Went back to Richards to study, asked him to proofread english essay, which literally put him to sleep. Consider this point of academia and decided to be flattered. After his nap went to North Hobart for pizza before going to State Cinema (7 tiny tiny rooms in the back of a bar that show foreign and small indie films as well as bigger titles) to watch Les émotifs anonymes in a room with about 25 seats. Film was cute and french and everything you’d expect. Currently glugging tea trying to get ready for press conference with the Minister for Human Services Cassy O’Connor.  Yay have managed to get back on blog train. Sorry dear readers, will engage more in future, promise. (Well known fact that actually mean it this time.)

Update on Richard’s suffering - “I have eyes on my plate. Fucking eyes.”

Apr 6
7.06pm

Ha! After dying in room all morning (cause: heat and hangover), went to Richard’s for bbq and then met Grace, Claire and Lucy at Grape in Salamanca for drinks and dips. Anyway, point of post is that while am currently enjoying lovely heathen meal of feta, proscuitto, walnut and peach salad, Richard is suffering traditional Easter Friday fare at his mothers. Quote - ‘Whoever decided to put aquatic creatures on a dinner plate is a fucking mental. Fact.’ Haha. Personally think Richard is the mental, as like seafood. Anyway, killing time (Linc’s part of gig only starts at 10, ho hum, and can’t drink as driving, booo) then shall go to gig then Rich’s to meet new people, have a few drinks and laughs. Mainly hearing him rant about fish.

Butt Party

Apr 2

T42.  Richard trying to be artistic.

Friday - Spent morning finishing off media and conflict essay in the sun, then walked into uni via burger got soul - jumping the gun on celebrating handing the prick in. Fooled around at uni reading the papers etc then got picked up by Richard and whiled away afternoon before going to college and getting ready for ‘butt party’ - college party in basement called the buttery. Theme was alphabet, therefore had to go as something starting with L. 4pm rolled around and realised was fucked, luckily however a guy had left over St Patricks Day gear so went as leprechaun, great success. Slightly concerned Lou managed to create lumberjack costume entirely from my wardrobe.  Saturday - Mucked around at home with Lou feeling seedy etc. Went down to the beach and to watch Rich play soccer in the afternoon (sitting under tree in leather pants, eating greek salad, laughing at Richard’s red little face frowning at the ref), then out to dinner with Harriet and Lou. 9ish went to The Alley Cat in North Hobart to watch Linc’s solo set. Hung around a bit, ended up on the door with Linc, doing stamps etc. Do not ask me how. Bailed on the Alley Cat, headed to Richards to avoid going to bar by selves and doing shots out of boredom. Few beers, playground (slide v. aggressive and discovered am epitome of aerodynamic). Typical big night out, with cheeky bonus of geting our coats from the edge of the dance floor to discover someone had vomited on them. Brilliant.  Sunday - spent morning in bed cracking up over PopAsia on SBS. Soaked our vomity jackets (entirely pungent). Decided it was the day Rich finally tried sushi, everywhere was closed though so ended up going to the gorgeous and amazingly located T42, on the harbour thing. Freaked Rich out with mussels, then explored museum and gallery, appalling attendant by pissing selves over provocatively titled “face, flowers and pheasant”. Followed museum up with ice-cream on a deck near the pier, then supermarket for dinner ingredients - strips of marinated steak laying sexily on a bed of lettuce, avocado, tomato and cucumber, with a weird seeded mustard/lime dressing. Rich played his new baby (Les Paul Custom) while I burned things, then we watched Drive which really liked visually but which managed to simultaneously bore and horrify me.

Vintage Fair. Poor foxy.

Just had Media and Conflict tute. 5 people showed up but loved it anyway. V. interesting discussions about public interest and ethics. Analysed News of The World scandal, imposed a utilitarian framework on it to hypothesise and shit. Grand. Feel good today, lovely morning, then got muffin, chai and cigarette on way to uni, and just now got new student id. Huge advantage of losing one’s id is one can get new id in which one doesn’t look like rapist.

Thursday 29th March

Talking to Richard today who was rightly indignant about fact that have neglected to blog about our spontaneous adventures at the vintage fair on saturday, tryin’ on hats, laughin’ at jackets, flickin’ through books. Was divine and can’t believe forgot to canonise in blog form. He got a few photos that will put up once have wrestled off him. Just cooked spaghetti and mussels that bought on pier today after most successful 75% off shopping trip with Rich. Now to shower, stop smelling like mussels, and scoot to Linc’s for dvd night take 2. Hazza.

Last night fresher shout - college event involving further humiliation of freshers in manner of dressing them up in absurdly mismatched costumes/outfits, parading around Sandy Bay at night, singing war cries in fountains, on roundabouts etc. Proceeded to Dr Syntax for fun games eg. cucumber between knees relays, designed, like everything else, to break down boundaries and encourage bonding. Horrid ex insisted on being there, but didn’t let ruin night and ended up giggling on Richard’s deck with Matt and Ed when decided couldn’t stand being around ex anymore. Currently getting lipstick all over lid of takeaway chai, highlighting particularly eloquent, albiet superlative, sections of Marxist sociology reading. Hurrah.

Am twenty years old. Dinner should not consist of a sour gummy gecko and toast. Shame

7.10pm

So can only remember evenings of last three days. Worrying yet not entirely sinister as pretty sure were just lazy lovely nondescript days. Friday night went to The Brisbane to meet a friend and watch Linc’s punk band Ride the Tiger, and The Smith Street Band. Linc had put name on the door so got to saunter up and be a total rock star for a minute. Met up with Linc just before his set started, said hey to Alex at the pool table, and rocked out solo until Lou and Harriet got there. Smith Street Band followed Ride the Tiger, and were amazing, in usual manner. Was standing next to Linc when Will from Smith Street band started talking about him and everyone swivelled to peer. Haha. Had a few more drinks then headed into town, Lowerhouse, saw Cook Batty etc. Linc met us just as Lowerhouse was closing and stood outside with us for a while before deciding to go home. Mobius, continually rescuing Harriet from grip of seedy men, Richard stumbled in a 2ish, home at 4.30am. Saturday recovery, then houseparty in Glebe that night, cocktail theme so borrowed a dress from Grace. Packed house, new/excellent people, spent most of it split between kitchen, strobe filled living room, backyard courtyard and Georgie’s bedroom. Sunday mucked around with Richard in cafes in North Hobart, studied, went round to his to cook dinner which due to study spilling over turned into pizzas and baking a brownie/cake delicious hybrid. Rounded out evening waiting outside the Engineering Building at midnight for cleaners to let us in and print a report. Uni since 9am today (ugh), then have night of Community, Parks and Recreation, Arrested Development and/or 30 Rock ahead of me once Linc finishes his song writing session.
